The current CEO of Crispin Porter and Bogusky, Lori Senecal, has been an advertising trailblazer throughout the course of her storied career, helping to implement a number of innovative strategies in the world of marketing, that have taken businesses that she’s been involved with to new heights. Her shy, reserved personality, is a far cry from the presence that she emits in the office, and for her efforts, she has been the recipient of several notable awards, including the Quantum Leap Award, which is given by the AWNY Game Changer Awards. As an expert in advertising, Lori Senecal recently sat down to give her opinion on several growing trends within the online marketing sector.

According to Senecal, mobile advertising is taking off in a manner never before seen and is rapidly replacing the previously dominant form of online marketing, desktop advertising. In 2015, internet advertising revenue reached $60 billion, and only a small percentage of this was accrued through desktop advertising. Today, the majority of people spend upwards of 25 percent of their time on their mobile devices and smartphones, making this sector one of the most promising platforms for business growth. Although social media outlets such as Facebook have received conflicting reviews from the online population, there is no doubt that this is currently one of the most effective mediums for the growth of your business. The adverting revenue seen by Facebook grew nearly 60 percent from 2014 to 2015, and during that time span, search engine powerhouse, Google, YouTube saw an increase of almost 20 percent. These two corporations accounted for 76 percent of the advertising growth from 2014 to 2015, making them must-haves for anyone looking to take the most effective route for online business growth.

Ad blocking is currently the biggest enemy of online advertising, as almost 92 percent of internet users have either implemented this type of software in their into their devices or will consider doing so in the future. Companies have been able to circumvent this problem with relatively significant success in previous years, as they have begun decreasing the time of their ads, which helps to keep the user’s attention while keeping the disruption of their activities at a minimum.
